Who is Good Time Cookers (GTC) and why would you want to associate with this group of rowdies?

History:

Well…back in the early 1990’s a group of friends who knew each other as members of a Houston area ski club had a wild idea to create a barbecue team.  They mustered their barbecue cooking skills, limited resources and entered a few greater-Houston area Bar-B-Que cookoff competitions just to see if it worked.  One thing lead to another and in 1994 they decided to make their first entry into the Houston Livestock Show – World Championship Bar-B-Que Cookoff.

So, that makes 2024 our 30th anniversary at the Houston Livestock World Championship Cookoff!  Therefore, I think it is safe to say that this isn’t our first rodeo.  

What's our Super Power?

Our years of experience. And, that means you will:

  • benefit from our having done this before (…a lot)
  • be served only food that we have cooked and prepared
  • feel less constricted since we control access and work to prevent over crowding
  • be served beverages at our open bar that are prepared by professional bartenders using premium name-brand ingredients
  • we do jello-shots too
  • jam to a variety of music provided by our excellent DJ
  • dance (a bunch) on our raised wooden dance floor
  • enjoy our beautiful decorations, comfortable tables, and seatin’ at eatin’ time
  • appreciate our on-site convieniences  (a.k.a. porta potties)
  • if it’s raining, you will definitely appreciate that we have raised floors throughout the tent (no standing around in water puddles)
  • feel safe due to the presence of on-site security
